This post is dedicated to the many "amusements" that we experienced on Labor Day.
We spent most of the day at the amusement park, Great America. We got there right when it opened and it wasn't too crowded of a day, so we were able to get done most of the good rides (meaning goes fast and upsidedown) in an hour and a half. We started out the day with what turned out to be my favorite ride, Top Gun. We sat in the front and this is truly the only way to ride it. We later tried going towards the back but it really loses the effect. You are flying through the air, with the track on the top, and dropping, spinning, and twisting everywhere- all really fast. Its quite fun. The other rides like Drop Zone, Invertigo were fun, but it was the ride entitled "the Demon" that lived up to its name. We decided to try the front, since we enjoyed it on Top Gun, but this was our biggest mistake. It was so jerky that it actually whipped my head back onto the seat. Yeah, it was fairly bad. I had to take it easy for a few rides and if I went on an upside down one, I needed to recover from it before doing more. Poor William. I definitely slowed him down, but since it was not very crowded that day, we did all of the rides we wanted to- and some multiple times. Here we are on the sky ride.
And William on the bumper cars-
Overall, the park gave me the feeling of a suped up version of Lagoon, in Salt Lake. It even had a small waterpark attached to it. It would have been much better, had I not taken part of the demon home with me.
The other amusement that occupied our time while at the park was candy. They had this neat candy store where you could custom make your own giant pixie stick! From a wide variety of colors and flavors such as sour green apple, strawberry, and sour peach. It was fun to make and even more fun to eat.
William also tried this new candy- Sweetarts Gel. It is basically crushed up/powdered sweetarts with Karo syrup. It is intense! Just a little bit really was almost too much for me. But William LOVED it. He even joked that we should start brushing our teeth with it.
These candies reminded us of our childhood and were quite amusing- at least for about 30 minutes.
Our final amusement of the day was riding through the car wash. It was one of the car washes at our local gas station and neither one of us had ever tried it and William's car needed to be washed REALLY badly, and it was fairly inexpensive ($4), so why not. I was so bizzare to have these giant mop like brushes swishing and cleaning all around you. Here's some video of what it was like to be inside
All in all, it was a super fun way to amuse ourselves on Labor Day.
