Ming Tombs

The Ming Tombs house 13 of the 16 Ming emperors. This is the reconstructed tomb of Chang Ling that I am standing in front of.

Inside houses this big statue of the Yongle Emperor who oversaw the construction of the Forbidden City.

The ceiling is made of painted cedar and no metal nails exist in the structure.

And the tombs contained amazing treasures like an actual Ming vase,a jade crown for the empress, and a golden threaded crown for the emperor,

This is the gate leading to the Spirit Tower

The Spirit Tower marks the entrance to the burial chamber where the bodies actually rest (the big buildings are mostly for show)

The bodies are actually under these mounds

Jacky has been here so many times that he knows all the best Kodak moments and was willing to be a photographer
